Wanwei Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) is a non-toxic, water-soluble polymer produced by Anhui Wanwei. Its chemical formula is [C2H4O]n, and its CAS number is 9002-89-5. Product grades include 1788, 2099, 2699, and others. It appears as a white solid in the form of flakes, floccules, or powder, and is widely utilized in adhesives, coatings, films, as well as in the textile, construction, and pharmaceutical industries.
This substance is synthesized through the polymerization and alcoholysis of vinyl acetate. Its aqueous solutions exhibit excellent film-forming and emulsifying properties; the resulting films demonstrate resistance to abrasion and solvents, and possess superior oxygen-barrier capabilities. Solubility varies depending on the degree of alcoholysis: grades with an alcoholysis degree below 95% are soluble in water at room temperature, whereas those exceeding 99.5% require elevated temperatures (above 95°C) to dissolve. In terms of thermal stability, the material remains stable below 40°C but begins to decompose above 220°C; it is resistant to weak acids, weak bases, and organic solvents, while its films feature high light transmittance and mechanical strength. The product is packaged in 25kg bags and should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated environment (5–30°C), avoiding exposure to high temperatures and humidity.
