A key parameter for classifying PVA is its degree of hydrolysis (DH) , which refers to the percentage of acetate groups converted to hydroxyl groups during production.
Based on the degree of hydrolysis, PVA is generally categorized into two main types:
- Fully Hydrolyzed PVA: This grade typically has a DH of 98% to 99% or higher.
- Partially Hydrolyzed PVA: This grade usually has a DH ranging from 80% to 90%.
