As far as we know, the PVA is the main material for manufacturing the slime. Do you know the reason?
Firstly, Let's see the role of PVA in slime.
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has excellent film-forming matrix. Its long molecular chains-composed of repeating vinyl alcohol units-dissolve readily in water, creating a viscous, entangled network that gives slime its initial body and cohesive volume. At the same time, PVA provides the chemical crosslinking sites. Each PVA chain carries numerous pendant hydroxyl groups (-OH). When a borate-containing activator (such as borax solution or saline-based contact lens solution) is introduced, these hydroxyl groups form reversible borate ester bonds with borate ions. This crosslinking reaction bridges independent PVA chains into a massive, three-dimensional hydrogel network. Water molecules become trapped within this mesh, transforming the free-flowing polymer solution into a soft, semisolid gel-the slime itself.
After learn about the PVA function in slime, we need to check out which grade or type is suitable for making slime. With more than 20 years supply PVA experience, we suggest BF17(1799), it has high transparance and excellent stretching.
