Suspending agent
PVA 17-88 is used as a protective colloid for the polymerisation of PVAC. Prevents polymer particles from coalescing (sticking together) during polymerization. And used in suspension polymerization (e.g., for PVC) to disperse monomer droplets in water.
Ceramic industry
PVA 17-88 is used as a temporary binder and green strength enhancer in the ceramic industry. It holds ceramic powders together before sintering, providing sufficient strength for handling and shaping. Acts as a dispersant and stabilizer in ceramic slurries, ensuring uniform particle distribution.
